Mehmet Kemal Özkan, CEO and President, is a co-founder of Momentum. He received a Ph.D. degree in 1992 in electrical engineeringfrom University of Rochester. He also received an MBA degree in 1997 from Indiana University. Prior to Momentum, he was with Thomson Multimedia, Indianapolis, Indiana, from 1992 to 1998. Dr. Ozkan also served in various senior executive positions within Dogan group of companies (largest media group in Turkey), from 1998 to 2001. He has been involved in various aspects of digital communications technologies worldwide including the formation of the digital TV concept and the international standards including MPEG, ATSC, DVB, DAVIC. He received an Emmy Award from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for contributions to U.S. digital TV standard in 1997. He holds 15 U.S. patents in the fields of digital TV broadcasting and video processing and has authored and co-authored a large number of technical publications in the field of image and video processing.
Arif Tanju Erdem, CTO and VP, is a co-founder of Momentum. He received a Ph.D. degree in 1990 in electrical engineering from University of Rochester, Rochester, New York, U.S.A. Prior to Momentum, he was with the Research Laboratories of Eastman Kodak Company, Rochester, New York, U.S.A., from 1990 to 1998, where he was responsible for algorithm development in video compression, image restoration, and motion tracking. He held adjunct faculty positions at the Electrical Engineering Departments of University of Rochester, USA from 1990 to 1994, and Bilkent University, Turkey in 1996. He was an active member of the MPEG Committee from 1992 to 1998 where he has served as the chairman of the MPEG-2 ad-hoc group on 10-bit video in 1993. He was a member of IEEE from 1988-2000 where he has served as the President of the Rochester Chapter of the IEEE Signal Processing Society from 1992 to 1994. Çiğdem Eroğlu-Erdem, Director of Research, has joined Momentum in 2002 She received a Ph.D. degree in 2002 in electrical engineering from Boğaziçi University, Istanbul, Turkey. She was a visiting researcher at Delft University of Technology and Philips Research Laboratories, the Netherlands in 2003, and at Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, University of Rochester, USA during 2000-2001. She is a member of the IEEE and a reviewer for IEEE Transactions on Image Processing. She received the Best Paper Award at EUSIPCO in 2000 and the Best Research Presentation award at Bilkent University in 1997. She has authored or co-authored more than 30 technical publications in the field of video processing. She has been leading Momentum’s R&D efforts in FP6 project 3DTV NoE.
Burak Barmanbek, Chairman and VP, is a co-founder of Momentum. He received an MBA degree in 1992 from Wright State University, Dayton, Ohio, USA, and a B.S. degree in 1988 in electrical engineering from Boğaziçi University, Turkey. He is the creator and producer of Momentum’s 3D adventure game Culpa Innata™ which was released in the U.S. and several countries across Europe in 2008. Prior to Momentum, he was with Dogan Media Group from 1994 to 1998, where he was the Engineering Executive for Dogan ISP Infrastructure and the Business Process Reengineering Project Leader for YaySat Media Distribution. Mr. Barmanbek has been heavily involved with multimedia production since 1991. As the Chairman, he has been responsible for creating new game businesses for Momentum.
Momentum is cooperating with STERIS, a global leader in infection prevention, contamination control, surgical and critical care technologies, to use 3D Simulation in product marketing and training.
